Does Philosophy help in real life?

We all love quotes and philosophical statements from great leaders or great human beings from past and current generations.

we really like them in general or find philosophical statements very boring but there are people who are interested in Philosophy and often they have one question "can this be implemented in our day to day life? and answer to this vary from people to people. Some say, "We need to have practical approach in our life." and others say " These are great, thoughts and Philosophy and we should try to embrace them in a customise way so that it suites our current profession, life or career." so in totally the question of "Does philosophy help in real life? remains unanswered so I'm trying to pen down my thoughts on this in today's article. so Let's begin with understanding "Philosophy" before we understand if philosophy can help in life or not.

So word "Philosophy" oxford definition or meaning is " Philosophy encompasses the study of many fundamental aspects of our lives and the world that surrounds us, including the nature of reality, of knowledge, of morality, and of the relationship between the mind and the body". This itself is self explanatory and a simplest way to define philosophy.

Let's now dwell in the actual question of this article. For this - I'm sharing my journey to answer the question here. I'm 40 years old now and have gone through many ups and downs in life like we all go through like an ordinary human being. Couple of years back, I was reflecting on my life & Journey and realised that i should lay down some thoughts, quotes or things that i truly believe in ( Basically Philosophy for my life) and i started that true inward journey into self to find out the philosophy of my life.

I've written these down in a word document in my laptop and then started living according to the philosophy that i believed in and of-course it has been a hard journey but the rewards have been greater for me. This has led to me through tremendous inner transition. This allows me to be truly happy and l where I am today in my personal, professional life. These reflections helped me made better choices with regards to my career which are more aligned to my philosophies of life and also helped in my personal relationship with people. ( Inside and outside of work). Philosophy may be a boring subject but it adds tremendous value in your life and gives strength to fight many battles of life with ease. I love to watch videos and read on "Stoicism" and "Taoism" and it really helped me to build a wisdom that is required to live a good & slow life especially in these times where everything in the world is running at rocket speed and you have to make choices or decisions every minute in this fast world pace where you have very less time to take critical decisions with precision. so I would end this article with a note that in my case philosophy is really helping me to find more meaning to life and also helping me to live happy and content full life and I understand that many of you may have not the same experience or belief as me. This is more a choice and subjective question for each individuals so do let me know your views and thoughts on this in comment section. if you liked this article then i would extend these topics and will talk in detail in next article on how i implemented philosophy in my life.
